Does teeth whitening hurt?
For most people, no. Some patients feel brief, mild sensitivity ("zingers") for 24–48 hours. We pre-treat with desensitizing gel, use a lower-peroxide formula for sensitive teeth, and send you home with a remineralizing paste. If you've had sensitivity before, tell us — we'll adjust the protocol.
I'm really anxious about the dentist. What do you actually do about it?
A lot. Your first visit can be talk-only — no instruments if you'd prefer. In the chair: hand-signal to pause anytime, headphones, weighted blanket, numbing gel before any injection, and nitrous oxide if you want it. About a third of our patients came to us specifically because of dental anxiety.
How much does a checkup and cleaning cost without insurance?
$149 flat — exam, cleaning, and any needed X-rays included. That price is on the wall in our lobby and it's what you pay, period. Our BrightSmile Membership ($29/month) covers two cleanings a year plus 15% off all other treatment.
When should my child first see a dentist?
By their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth — whichever comes first. Early visits are mostly about getting comfortable (and coaching you on brushing). First visits are free for kids under 3 at BrightSmile.
What should I do if I knock out a tooth?
Pick it up by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently — don't scrub — and place it back in the socket if you can, or keep it in milk. Then call us immediately: a tooth re-implanted within 30–60 minutes has the best chance of survival. Our emergency line is answered evenings and weekends.
