What counts as a seat?

A person who can deploy. Read-only members — anyone who only views logs, versions or the audit trail — are free and unlimited on Team. We'd rather your whole team could see what shipped than charge you for observers.

How is the free tier actually free?

Side projects get 100 deploys/month, 2 always-on services, and preview URLs — genuinely free, no card. We make money when teams need SSO, audit logs, more regions and concurrency. Free-tier users become our loudest advocates; that's the business model.

What happens if I cross a limit?

Nothing breaks mid-deploy. Cross the free tier's 100 deploys and we email you; deploys keep working for the rest of the month. Stay over two months running and we'll ask you to move to Team — we won't silently start charging you or delete a service.

Can I try Team without a card?

Yes. The 14-day trial starts on forge login and needs no payment details. When it ends the account reverts to Free — your services keep running if they fit the free limits, and nothing is deleted if they don't. You just can't deploy until you pick a plan.

Do you charge for bandwidth or build minutes?

No build minutes, ever — that pricing model punishes you for having tests. Bandwidth is included up to 1 TB/month on Team, which almost nobody reaches; past that it's $0.04/GB and we'll email you before the first charge.

Is the pricing different if I self-host?

The CLI is MIT-licensed and forge export hands you the Dockerfile and compose file it generated, so running it yourself costs nothing and needs no licence from us. Plans price the hosted control plane — the regions, the routing, the encrypted secret store.

How do annual and enterprise billing work?

Team is monthly by default; annual billing saves two months and can be invoiced. Enterprise is always annual, quoted against seats, regions and retention, and goes through procurement with a SOC 2 Type II report attached. See the CI & tokens docs for how deploy access is scoped per environment.
