"Bought the Planks for our eldest three years ago. They've since been a castle, a car park and, memorably, a hospital. Not one has split. Our second is now using the same set."

Whimble Planks — 120 pieces
120 identical beech planks. No instructions, no picture on the box to copy — which is the point. Towers on Monday, a bridge by Friday, a car park by the time you've forgotten you bought it.

- Free UK delivery over £50, and free returns for 60 days.
- Five-year repair promise. Split a plank, post it back, we replace it.
- Spares sold separately — you never have to rebuy the set.
Age guidance
Suitable from 12 months. Every plank in this set is larger than the small-parts cylinder specified in EN 71-1, so there is no small part to swallow — but planks are hard, and a tower falling on a face still hurts. Play on the floor, not on a table, and supervise under-3s.
- Smallest part
- 117 × 24 × 8 mm — the plank itself; the set contains no smaller component.
- Stated age
- 1–3+, and most families keep using it well past five.
- Supervision
- Recommended under three, as with any building set that can be stacked above head height.
- Check before each use
- Discard any plank that has split, splintered or lost paint. We'll replace it free under the repair promise.

Everything on this page is the same information printed on the box — put here so you can read it before you buy rather than after.

Natural timber varies. Grain, tone and the odd knot differ between planks — that's beech, not a fault.

Living with it
How to keep a set of planks
going for twenty years
Cleaning
Damp cloth, mild soap, dry immediately. Never soak, never put them in a dishwasher — beech swells and the paint lifts.
Storage
Anywhere dry. Radiators and conservatories will dry the timber out over a few summers and cause splitting.
When to retire a plank
Any split running along the grain, any raised splinter, any chip you can catch a fingernail on. Post it back and we replace it free.

What parents say about
this set specifically
"The 120 is the right number. We tried a 60 first and it ran out halfway up the first tower. Buy the bigger box, you'll only order the top-up pack anyway."
"Honestly the noise when 120 planks hit a wooden floor at 6am is its own review. Wonderful toy, get a rug. Paint has survived a year of chewing with no chips."
