Willowbend Care levels & fees

01/Three levels, one building

What each level costs, and what it buys.

Every fee on this page is all-inclusive: the apartment, three meals, utilities, housekeeping, laundry, activities, transport and the care described. There is no separate care tier, no points system and no à-la-carte billing. What is not included has its own list further down, because that is the part most communities leave out.

Reviewed: fees quoted are the 2026 schedule, held for twelve months from move-in
1:6 daytime staffing · 1:14 overnight with two nurses awake · 24-hour licensed nursing on site

02/Level 01

Independent Living

For people who manage their own day and simply want the cooking, cleaning and shovelling to stop. Care is available if you want it — most residents at this level use none for the first two years, and the fee does not change if you start.

Memory Care

Fourteen apartments in the Hollow Wing, with a secured garden door residents may use freely in daylight. Staff are trained in dementia care specifically, and the daily rhythm stays identical week to week because familiarity is the treatment. This is the only move that ever happens at Willowbend, and only when a secured setting is genuinely safer.

05/The whole fee, in one table

One number a month. Here is what is in it.

The same table we hand families at the first visit. If a line is not on it, it is not billed — and the four things we do charge separately are listed underneath rather than buried in an appendix.

Also included, and often charged elsewhere

  • Moving in — floorplan dimensions sent before you commit, and Marguerite walks the room with you
  • Assessment before the move, and every reassessment after it
  • Family meetings, monthly in the Hollow Wing, any time elsewhere
  • Modified-texture and soft diets, cooked to the same recipes
  • Dietitian review each quarter
  • Overnight guest rooms for family at $65 a night — the only thing on this list with a price

Not included — the whole list

  • A personal telephone line, if you want one in the apartment
  • Hairdressing, which visits twice a week
  • Anything ordered in from outside the building
  • A one-time $400 pet fee, cats and dogs under 30 lb, independent and assisted living only

That is the complete list. If a fifth item ever appears, you will get ninety days' written notice and the reason, the same as any fee change.

06/Three floorplans

Rooms with your own furniture in them.

Every apartment has a full bathroom with a level-access shower, a kitchenette, individual heating and a window that opens. Apartments arrive empty apart from blinds and the kitchenette — residents bring their own furniture, and the most common mistake is an over-large sofa.

07/Before your furniture arrives

This is what you are actually renting.

Photographs of staged apartments are the industry's favourite half-truth. This is a one-bedroom on the day the blinds went in — the floor, the window, the ceiling height and nothing else. We send the exact dimensions before you commit so you can measure the sofa at home rather than discovering it on the day.

Ask for: the dimensioned plan of the specific apartment, not the floorplan type
Every apartment is licensed for assisted living, whichever level you enter at

08/When needs change

Care that moves, so nobody has to.

The single most expensive surprise in this sector is a forced move. Here is exactly how a level change works at Willowbend, in the order it happens.

01 /

Somebody notices

Usually a carer, sometimes the family, occasionally the resident. It goes in the daily notes the same day and Dr. Sowande sees it the next morning.

02 /

Reassessment, with you present

A clinical reassessment rather than a sales conversation. You are invited, and so is the resident — a person's own account of what they can still do is part of the assessment, not a courtesy.

Booked within 5 working days · roughly 90 minutes

03 /

A written plan and a written number

You get the revised care plan and the revised fee in the same letter, signed by Halina. If the level does not need to change, that is what the letter says.

90 days' written notice before any fee change takes effect

04 /

The care moves, not the resident

Every apartment is licensed for assisted living, so the extra care simply starts arriving at the same door. The same window, the same neighbours, the same walk to the dining room. The only exception is the Hollow Wing, and only when a secured setting is genuinely safer.

A row of wooden rocking chairs and a small round table along a covered veranda with white columns beside a red brick wall.

10/Talk about the numbers

Bring us your budget.

Our admissions coordinator will tell you plainly at the first call if the numbers do not work — before you drive out here, and before anybody tours anything. That conversation costs nothing and takes about fifteen minutes.
