Day spa & bathhouse — Mill Valley

An hour where
nothing is asked
of you.

Stillwater is a small bathhouse under the redwoods. Nine treatment rooms, one cedar sauna, one cold well. No music you didn't choose. No upsell at the door.

Signature treatments

The menu, in full

Every treatment includes bathhouse access before and after — arrive thirty minutes early, stay as long as you like.

The ritual — the order matters

Warm, work, rest

Every visit follows the same three movements. Heat opens the tissue, hands do the work, and the rest is when it holds.

First — 30 min

Warm

Heat first, always. Cedar sauna, eucalyptus steam, or warm basalt laid along the spine. By the time a therapist comes for you, your shoulders have already dropped an inch.

Then — 60 to 100 min

Work

One therapist, one room, no clock in view. They ask twice about pressure and then stop asking. If you fall asleep, that is the correct outcome.

Last — as long as you like

Rest

Nobody hurries you out. The rest lounge has water, tea, a blanket and no wifi. Most guests stay another forty minutes. Some stay two hours.

Included with
every treatment

Cedar sauna

Finnish-built, 180°F, seats fourteen. Löyly rounds with wild sage on the hour, every hour, from open to close.

The cold well

A single 48°F plunge, deep enough to stand in. Two minutes is plenty. The attendant will tell you when to get out.

Garden courtyard & tea kitchen

A reflecting pool, six loungers under the redwoods, and a kitchen that pours nettle, hojicha and lemon balm all day. No phones past the gate.

Rest lounge

Nine linen daybeds in a room with no screens and no music — just the courtyard through the arch windows.

What people say after

Left in the leather book by the door, transcribed with permission.

“I have been to spas that sell you serum on the way out. This one handed me tea and let me sit for an hour. I came back the next week.”
Maren H. — member since 2022
“Nine years of a desk job in my right shoulder, and Priya found it in about four minutes. The sauna afterwards was the good part.”
Daniel O. — Sausalito
“The quietest room I have been in inside city limits. I booked the half day for my mother and then, honestly, one for myself.”
Ines R. — San Francisco
