On the plinth.
Every piece is thrown, trimmed, glazed and fired by hand — so no two are identical. Weights and dimensions are given as the batch average.

The makers
Two people, one wheel,
forty pieces at a time.
Vessel is Nadia Ferreira and Owen Pike. We took over a former print shop on Warren Street in 2019, put a kiln where the presses were, and started throwing the plates we couldn't find anywhere else — heavy enough to feel like something, plain enough to disappear under food.
Nothing here is slip-cast or outsourced. Nadia throws, Owen trims and glazes, and the kiln decides the rest. A batch takes eleven days from wedged clay to packed box, and we only start the next one when the last is out the door.
The glaze
Eleven days, three fires,
one unrepeatable surface.
Our glazes are mixed in-house from wood ash, local feldspar and iron oxide. The order below is the order it happens in — each stage has to fully dry before the next can begin.

Day 1 — 3
Throw & trim
Every piece starts as a 900g ball of grey stoneware, wedged by hand. Thrown wet, left to stiffen to leather-hard overnight, then trimmed on the wheel to find the foot.

Day 4 — 7
Dry & bisque
Greenware dries slowly on the shelf — rush it and it cracks. Then the first fire, to 980°C, which turns clay into something porous enough to drink the glaze.

Day 8 — 11
Glaze & fire
Dipped, wiped, stacked, and fired to 1,260°C over sixteen hours. The kiln cools for two days. Roughly one piece in nine doesn't make it out — those go to the seconds shelf.
Care & materials
Use it. That's the whole point.
Stoneware fired this hard is not delicate. Everything below is true of every piece we make.
Dishwasher safe
Vitrified to 1,260°C. Top rack, bottom rack, it doesn't care. No crazing, no dulling.
Oven & microwave
Up to 220°C. No glaze cracks, no metal. Don't take it straight from freezer to oven.
Lead & cadmium free
Independently tested every batch. Certificates are on file and posted with each firing.
Chip it, send it back
We'll repair a chipped foot or rim for free, for as long as the studio is open. Just email us.
Stockists & press
Where else you'll find us.
We keep the wholesale list short on purpose — five shops we'd send a friend to, and nothing sold through a marketplace.
“The rare studio whose plates get heavier with meaning the more you eat off them.”

“Bought the six-piece set eighteen months ago and it goes in the dishwasher four nights a week. Not one chip, not one dull spot. The weight is the thing — cheap plates feel like paper after these.”
“I run a twelve-seat restaurant and I've replaced our entire service with Vessel over three batches. Nadia will actually throw to a spec if you ask. Try getting that from a supplier.”
“The Mist vases are the only wedding gift anyone has asked me where I got. Ordered on a Tuesday, packed in wool and straw, arrived Friday without a scratch.”
Batch 20 opens Nov 4
Batches sell out in about six hours.
One email per firing — what's in it, what the glaze did, and a link forty-eight hours before it goes public. Nothing else, ever.
You're on the list. Batch 20 lands in your inbox on Nov 2.
